How to Create Events in WhatsApp Groups

Creating WhatsApp Group events can be an efficient way to organize gatherings and keep the members informed and engaged. Creating an event is a very simple process requiring just a few steps. 

Once the event is created, it will be shared in the group chat and members can tap on the message to see more information about the event. 

To create a WhatsApp Group event, these are the steps to follow for both Android, iOS and WhatsApp for web. 

Open WhatsApp

  • Open the WhatsApp app on your phone or on your desktop.
  • Open the Group chat you want to create an event for. 

Create the Event

  • With the group chat open, tap on the attachment icon (paperclip) on Android or the “+” (plus) on iOS. 
  • From the option presented, tap on Event.

Enter Event Details

Enter all the necessary event details.

  • Event Name: Give your event a name that is clear and concise for the group members to understand. 
  • Event Date: The date is one of the most important aspects of the event.
  • Time: Share the time of the event and if possible also include the end time. 
  • Location: This is optional but can be important if your are planning a physical event. 
  • Event Description: You can add additional information about the event here. Be as descriptive as possible as the description can be up to 2,048 characters. 

Save and share

When satisfied with the event details, tap on “Create” or “Share Event” to share it in the group chat. 

  • Keep in mind only event creators can edit and cancel events.
  • Events can be pinned at the top of the group chat.
