Safaricom Increases 5G Speeds for SMEs with ‘5G for Business’

Safaricom has increased the speeds for 5G for Business customers. The company says with the faster speeds, it will be able to provide SMEs with faster, more reliable connectivity that supports their growing digital needs. These include real-time collaboration, seamless online transactions, and remote operations.

Safaricom made this announcement at the ‘Grow with Safaricom Business’ Western Kenya edition. This is a platform that seeks to help SMEs scale their operations through technology.

The announcement comes a couple of months after the telco raised the speeds of its fibre to home product. This was in response to Starlink’s growing popularity across the country.

For the 5G for business products, customers can expect up to 5 times speed increase across all products as shows below.

“The new 5G for Business will ensure that SMEs can access enterprise-grade internet performance without stretching their budgets. This will empower them to enhance productivity, improve customer interactions, and scale operations efficiently in today’s increasingly connected marketplace,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

Safaricom has also announced that businesses that sing up to use the 5G plan from now till 31st December 2024 will get 25% off all 5G plans.

According to the Kenya Institute of Public Policy, Research and Analysis, there are over 7.4 million MSMEs, employing approximately 14.9 million Kenyans in various sectors of the economy, generating 30% of the GDP.
