Huawei Kenya Hosts Inaugural Girls in Tech Career Fair at JKUAT

The Women in Technology Huawei Kenya team (WITH) hosted the first Girls in Tech Career Fair at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. The career fair was exclusively tailored for young women studying STEM-related courses at the university level, under the theme: Empowering women leaders through access to new career paths, growth opportunities, and contributions to tech innovation to drive innovation and social impact. 

Women in Technology Huawei, is an initiative launched by the company around the world in support of gender equality and inclusion – “Tech for Her, Tech by Her, Tech with Her” – as well as the concrete action Huawei has taken to improve women’s participation in and contribution to the tech sector and the digital economy at large.

Some of the topics covered in the fair included: Career Guidance and mentorship, Networking Opportunities, Skill Development and knowledge Expansion, Insights into Huawei’s Industry Impact and Opportunities, Empowerment and Inspiration, Application of Technology in Different Fields, Support of continued learning and growth.

“Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, values Women in Tech mentors and leaders and the role they continue to play in supporting our women students undertaking STEM courses in the university. Such activities as the career fair, helps them prepare for their careers in the Tech Space and encourages them to take up leadership roles and work on becoming technical experts in their fields of study. We appreciate the women in Tech team from our long-time industry partner Huawei, for speaking to the JKUAT-SheTech team and guiding them on the various opportunities the industry has to offer and how to get skills that will position them for success.” Dr. Agnes Mindila, Director School of Computing and Information technology, JKUAT.
