The HMD Skyline was recently launched in Kenya and is available in stores starting from Ksh 58,000. This is the latest from the company and is not cheap as you have noticed. At this price, this is a competitor to devices like the OPPO Reno 12 F, Reno 12 5G, Tecno Camon 30 premier just to name a few. These are very good phones from 2024 and may be on your list if you are also looking to buy the Skyline from HMD.
The Skyline follows HMD’s recent focus on repairability. It has a glass back which is removable and an aluminium frame. This is quite different from most other smartphones we have on the market with back covers that are a bit difficult to remove. For those who have always wanted a phone with the back that is easy to remove, this might be the perfect choice.
The HMD Skyline comes with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. It has up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable storage space. We do not see that many phones with this processor as most of the ones mentioned above are powered by mediaTek Dimensity processors. This is a unique approach by HMD and I am curious how the market reception will be.
Have a look at the key specifications of the phone below.
