Zoho Invoice has announced integration with M-Pesa to offer a seamless way for businesses to simplify their payment processes.
Before diving into the integration process, it’s essential to generate the necessary app credentials in Daraja 2.0, Safaricom’s Developers Portal. Here’s a quick overview:
- Visit the Daraja 2.0 website and log in or sign up.
- Create a new app, specifying a name and selecting the “Lipa Na M-PESA Sandbox” option.
- Generate Consumer Key and Consumer Secret, which will be used during the Zoho Invoice setup.
- Move to the “GO LIVE” tab to make the app live and receive a pass key via email.
How to Set Up the M-PESA Integration in Zoho Invoice
Once you have the required credentials, let’s proceed with the setup in Zoho Invoice:
- Navigate to Settings and click on Online Payments.
- In the Alternative Modes section, select “Set up Now” near Safaricom M-PESA.
- Fill in the necessary details, including Business Short Code, Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, and Pass Key.
- Click “Confirm” to integrate your M-PESA account with Zoho Invoice.
Receiving Payments from Customers
Once the integration is complete, you can start receiving payments from customers seamlessly. Here’s how:
- Mark M-PESA as the payment option when creating invoices.
- Customers can pay through the Customer Portal or the shared invoice link.
- Provide their Mobile Number and click “PROCEED TO PAYMENT.”
- After entering the M-PESA PIN, click “Reply” to complete the payment.
- The payment status will be reflected in Zoho Invoice.
Other Actions – Edit and Delete Integration
Zoho Invoice offers flexibility with the ability to edit or delete the M-PESA integration. Here’s how:
Edit Integration
- Navigate to Settings and click on Online Payments.
- In the Alternative Modes section, find the M-PESA payment gateway and click “Edit Settings.”
- Modify the required details and click “Confirm” to update the payment gateway settings.
Delete Integration
- Navigate to Settings and click on Online Payments.
- In the Alternative Modes section, click the Trash icon next to Safaricom M-PESA.
- Confirm your action in the dialog box that follows to delete the integration.
