Xiaomi has announced the global rollout of its new Android Skin, HyperOS. HyperOS is meant to replace MIUI which has been ubiquitous with Xiaomi devices. HyperOS is trying to do what HarmonyOS has been attempting. Both want to integrate more devices under a single operating system. They are not just Smartphone skins but are evolving to offer more.
Xiaomi refers to HyperOS as “A human-centric operating system designed for Human, Car, Home smart ecosystem.” With Xiaomi focusing on additional smart devices and not just smartphones, having an operating system that makes this integration smooth is essential.
The 8 devices that are currently getting HyperOS include:
- Xiaomi 13 Ultra
- Xiaomi 13 Pro
- Xiaomi 13
- Xiaomi 13T Pro
- Xiaomi 13T
- Redmi Note 12
- Redmi Note 12S
- Xiaomi Pad 6
The list isn’t comprehensive but it is a good start. I was honestly expecting more devices to be on the initial list but that’s not the case.
The update is currently rolling out Over The Air (OTA) to the devices listed above. More Xiaomi devices should be getting the update but it is not clear which these are and when they will get it. The update will also be available for POCO devices at a later date.
