Bolt Introduces New Trip Monitoring Features in Kenya

Bolt App Kenya

Bolt has today announced the introduction of a number of Trip Safety Monitoring features for its ride-hailing services in Kenya. These features are designed to monitor trips effectively. The system automatically engages with riders and drivers in-app when a vehicle remains stationary for an extended period, prompting a confirmation of their well-being. This approach aims to address potential safety concerns by giving users the option to call emergency services, share trip details, record audio, or request Bolt Assistance—all with a single touch through an in-app notification.

Complementing the Trip Safety Monitoring features, Bolt’s app is comes with an In-App Safety Toolkit. Users can utilize real-time location sharing through trip sharing, offering an added layer of security for friends and family. Additionally, the Emergency Assist button allows riders to quickly and discreetly alert emergency services or private security partners in situations where they may feel uncomfortable during a ride.

Safety is key

Linda Ndungu, Country Manager, Bolt Kenya, commented on the recent developments, stating, “At Bolt, safety remains a core priority.” She emphasized the continuous commitment to innovation in safety features, aiming to ensure a better ride-hailing experience for both drivers and riders. The Trip Safety Monitoring features empower users to promptly identify and report any unusual occurrences, contributing to the overall deterrence of undesirable outcomes during a Bolt trip.

The rollout of Bolt’s Trip Safety Monitoring features aligns with the company’s broader strategy of enhancing stationary vehicle monitoring.

Bolt also recently introduced a Driver Selfie Check feature. This additional layer of verification ensures that the driver’s identity matches the details previously shared on the platform, reducing the risk of impersonation. Drivers will get a prompt to take a selfie upon going online, and any discrepancies lead to a temporary restriction on providing services until identity verification is complete.
