Last week, OPPO officially launched its new foldable series, the Find N3 series in Dubai. The series has the Find N3, and a FLIP phone, the Find N3 Flip. The series will launch in Kenya very soon but I do not have the exact dates.
The OPPO Find N3
The Find N3 is the wide book-style foldable that feels light compared to other foldables on the market. I interacted with it for a few minutes and was throughly impressed. It feels well built and this is what you expect from a premium device. It has a 6.31 inch AMOLED outer panel one with a resolution of 2484 x 1116 pixels. This display has a dynamic refresh rate that ranges from 10 to 120 Hz. It is a very bright display with a maximum brightness of 2800 nits. This means that you can easily use it outdoors under direct sunlight as it can get bright enough for you to see what is on the display.
The inner display is a 7.82 inch panel with a dynamic refresh rate that ranges from 1 to 120 Hz and a resolution of 2440 x 2268 pixels.
Powering the Find N3 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12/16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. This is quite a flagship spec sheet and it is exactly what you expect from a smartphone of its caliber. It runs on Android 13 with a variant of ColorOS made for foldables. Having an OS variant made for foldables means that you will be getting a better and more customised experience.
Camera Powerhouse
The Find N3 comes with Hasselblad-branded cameras at the back. The back triple camera setup is made up of a 48MP wide angle lens, 64MP telephoto lens and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. The Hasselblad collaboration is in the colour calibration sector and this should help you get sharp and detailed shots. This is the expectation and I will have to use the phone to test this out. From the few minutes I interacted with it, the shots it captured were really good.
The dual selfie camera has a 32MP cover screen camera and a 20MP interior camera. With this combination, you should be able to capture very good selfies in varying lighting conditions. Both the back and front facing cameras can record 4K videos at 30fps with the back camera recording to up to 60fps.
Ensuring the phone is always on is the 4805 mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC fast charging. OPPO says this battery can be charge to 100% in just 42 minutes.
OPPO Find N3 Flip
The OPPO Find N3 Flip as the name suggest is the flip phone of the series. This is the successor to the OPPO Find N2 Flip that I reviewed a few months back. I did love the phone when I reviewed it and I think the Find N3 Flip will be better.
The Find N3 Flip has an aluminium frame, glass back and plastic front when unfolded. The main display is a 6.8 inch AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The cover display is a 3.26 inch AMOLED one which can now have more apps compared to the cover display on the Find N2 Flip. The main display has a peak brightness of 1600 nits while the cover display has max brightness of 900 nits.
One impressive thing about the Find N3 Flip is that it closes seamlessly compared to most other flip phones on the market. The crease is also not visible.
The phone comes with Android 13 with ColorOS 13.2 made for foldables. The processor under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 which OPPO has paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It does have a triple camera setup made up of a 50MP wide sensor, 32MP telephoto lens and a 48MP ultra-wide sensor. The back camera can record 4K videos at 30fps. We don’t see triple cameras on flip phones so this is impressive for OPPO to accomplish. The camera bump is very visible which might be a turn off for some people. The selfie camera is a 32MP wide lens that can also record 4K videos.
The battery is a 4300 mAh one that supports 44W charging. The company says this can charge the phone to 50% in just 23 minutes.
