Kyallo Kulture is a Showmax Original series about Betty Kyallo and her sisters, Mercy and Gloria. The show dives into their personal lives and was one of the top 10 most-watched shows on Showmax in Kenya in 2022. Kyallo Kulture was also nominated at the 2022 Kalasha Awards for Best TV Show.

Kyallo Kulture is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios, which is also behind The Real Housewives of Nairobi. 

The Real Housewives of Nairobi

The Real Housewives of Nairobi follows five women as they navigate their relationships and careers in Kenya. They include Susan Kaittany, Vera Sidika, Sonal Maherali, Minne Kariuki, Lisa Christoffersen and Dr Catherine Masitsa.

The series is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios (formerly Young Rich Television).

County 49

County 49 follows the political intrigues of the fictional Bwatele County, Kenya’s 49th county and the nation’s breadbasket. Despite the country’s wealth, its citizens suffer from the high cost of living and scarce resources.

County 49 stars Wakio Mzenge, Nyokabi Macharia, Ainea Ojiambo, Maqbul Mohammed, Martin Githinji, Peter Kawa, Benson Ojuwa, Nick Kwach, Emmanuel Mugo, Angela Mwandanda, Sam Psenjen and more.

The series is produced by Kibanda Pictures and all episodes are now streaming on Showmax. 

Baba Twins

Baba Twins follows Wamz, a young carefree airline hostess who is thrust into motherhood and has to raise multiples while navigating nanny drama and Tony, her socialite baby daddy who is not ready to be a dad.

Directed by Lawrence Murage, Baba Twins is produced by Lucy Mwangi through her production house Moon Beam Productions, the company behind beloved comedy TV shows like Auntie Boss, Kalasha 2020 Best TV Comedy winner and 2021 nominee Varshita, and Kalasha 2021 Best TV Drama nominee Njoro wa Uba.

Second Family

Second Family is a Showmax Original series that follows the life of a small-town girl called Sinde. Her father has been hiding the fact that she is from his second family.

Faithless

Faithless ia a show about churchgoers who join the criminal underworld. they are forced to turn their savings scheme into a money laundering operation.The show is produced by Live Eye TV, Faithless is helmed by Abdi Shuria and King Muriuki (Igiza) and Janet Chumbe (Sanura).

Single Kiasi

Single Kiasi is directed by Insignia Productions duo Grace Kahaki and Philippe Bresson, Single Kiasi follows the lives of three women in Nairobi – Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca – as they go through the ups and downs of marriage, relationships, and their careers.

Pepeta

Set in Kibera, Pepeta is about the talented young footballer, Junior, and his coach, who are in the cross-hairs of an unforgiving cop. Pepeta is loosely based on the real-life story of Harun “Rio” Wathari. The eight-part series captures the dreams and realities of the youth in Kibera, known for churning out top football players in the country.

All episodes of Pepeta are now ready to stream on Showmax. 

Igiza

Set against the backdrop of Nairobi’s fashion industry and the money laundering business, Igiza is a story of revenge between twin sisters Linda and Nicole. 

Igiza is helmed by Abdi Shuria (known for his works as a cinematographer for 2021’s hit Nafsi and upcoming feature Ayaanle), King Muriuki (The XYZ Show) and Abu Melita under their company Yare Productions.

All episodes can be streamed exclusively on Showmax. 

Crime and Justice

Crime and Justice follows ripped-from-the-headlines investigations by the fictional Nairobi Metropol Police, led by the dedicated Detective Makena (Sarah Hassan) and the by-the-book Detective Silas (Alfred Munyua).

Crime and Justice is directed by Adam Neutzsky-Wulff (All The Little Things We Kill, You Are Here) and Kenyans Likarion Wainaina (Supa Modo), Tosh Gitonga (Nairobi Half Life, Disconnect) and Edwin Kamau (40 Sticks).

Crime and Justice is the first Showmax Original series in Kenya, and also Showmax’s first co-production with global broadcaster CANAL+ Group.
