Central Bank of Kenya Unveils DhowCSD Portal to Ease investing in Bonds and T-Bills

The Central Bank of Kenya has unveiled a new portal that will make it easier for Kenyans to invest in Government securities. These include Government Bonds and Treasury bills that have always been a headache to get. This probably deterred a number of people from investing in Government securities.

CBK has announced that DhowCSD will be available on Android and iOS as well as through an online portal. The portai is live and accessible as from Today (August 1). In a statement, the CBK said, “The CBK DhowCSD is a new Central Securities Depository (CSD) that offers a simple, efficient, and secure portal by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) to enable the public to invest in Government of Kenya securities.”

CBK says the launch of the portal also brings with it some changes investors should know. First, there will be discontinuation of manual payments for both bonds and T-Bills. Payments will only be done through commercial banks.

The Central Bank also said all bids will be through the DhowCSD Portal. There will no more manual bids for any government securities.
