The OPPO Find N2 Flip Officially Launches in Kenya Starting from Ksh 129,999

OPPO Find N2 Flip in Kenya

OPPO has today officially launched its first Flip phone, the Find N2 Flip, into the Kenyan market. This phone competes directly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 that has been in Kenya since late last year. Samsung has dominated the Flip and Fold market and OPPO wants a share of this.

The Find N2 Flip has quite notable differences compared to the Z Flip and these are what OPPO hopes will make the phone more desirable for those on the market for a Flip device.

In Kenya, the OPPO Find N2 Flip is available in 8GB RAM and 256 GB Storage configurations. For this, you will be paying ksh 129,999. The Samsung Flip was available for Ksh 150,000 when it first launched in Kenya. At 129K, the N2 Flip will not be an easy buy. It is still a good phone but potential buyers need a bit more convincing if they are to buy this phone. Samsung has cemented its name as the leader in the foldable and flip market and OPPO needs to go an extra mile if people are to choose its phone over what Samsung has to offer.

Key Differences Compared to the Z Flip 4

When launching the Find N2 Flip, OPPO was very local about some of the key differences you get with this phone when compared to the Z Flip 4. Some of these make so much sense and that’s probably the advantage of not being first to the market.

The first difference is the cover display that is way bigger than what you get with the Z Flip series. OPPO says this large display gives users an enhanced viewing experience, better and convenient notification access and a number of features without unfolding the phone. I have used the Z Flip series before and when I compare it to the Find Flip N2, the cover display on the OPPO is more useful. It is vertically placed compared to the Flip which is horizontal.

The Find N2 Flip has no visible screen gap when folded. It is flat when folded and this gives a uniform appearance.

There is also no visible crease when the phone is unfolded. This was one of the things I did not like with the Flip series when reviewing it and I am glad OPPO is fixing it. The crease on the Z Flip just makes for an unpleasant scrolling experience. Some content is also slightly distorted with the crease.

The hinge mechanism on the Find N2 Flip is also smooth and sturdy. OPPO says the Find N2 Flip is rated to withstand 400,000 folding cycles compared to the Z Flip 4 which is rated to withstand 200,000 folding cycles. With the Find N2 Flip rating, it should withstand 100 opening and closing every day for 10 years.

The cover screen on the Find N2 Flip is also more useful with the widgets and ability to edit pre-canned messages.
