Tecno Phantom X2 Series set to launch in Kenya later this month

The Tecno Phantom X2 and X2 Pro are set to be the next flagship smartphones from Tecno, set to launch during the week of January 16th. Both devices come with 5G support, thanks to their MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chips and 5G modem. The Phantom X2 comes with an 6.8″ Slightly Curved AMOLED FHD+ screen, while the Phantom X2 Pro boasts an even larger 6.9″ AMOLED FHD+ display.

In terms of operating system, both devices run Android 12 with Tecno’s own HiOS 12 overlay. The Phantom X2 comes with 8GB of RAM and support for up to 5GB of virtual RAM, while the X2 Pro comes with a generous 12GB of RAM. Both devices also come with 256GB of internal storage, with the option to expand that further with a MicroSD card up to 2TB in size.

The Phantom X2 comes with a quad-camera setup on the back, featuring a 64MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The X2 Pro ups the ante with a penta-camera setup, featuring a 50MP main camera, a 50MP portrait camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. Both devices come with a 32MP front-facing selfie camera.

One notable omission on both devices is the lack of a headphone jack. However, they do come with dual speakers with DTS audio support, as well as a USB Type-C port for charging. The Phantom X2 has a 5160 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging, while the X2 Pro comes with a slightly larger 5500 mAh battery and supports 50W fast charging.

In terms of design, the Phantom X2 comes in Moonlight Silver and Stardust Grey, while the X2 Pro is available in Stardust Grey and Mars Orange. Both devices come with a sleek, premium design, with a slim bezel and a glass back.

As for price, the Phantom X2 is priced at Ksh 67,999, while the X2 Pro comes in at Ksh 82,999. Both devices offer a solid set of features and specs, making them competitive offerings in their respective price ranges. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against other smartphones in the market when they launch later this month.
