Infinix has confirmed that it will be launching the Note 12 series in Kenya tomorrow. This is the latest in the company’s Note series and the successor to the Infinix Note 11 from last year. The Note 11 has been on the market for more than 6 months and a refresh is due in my opinion.
The Infinix Note 12 series comprises two main devices, the standard Infinix Note 12 and the Infinix Note 12 VIP. The Note 12 VIP is definitely the star of the show and the phone I am keen to see launch in Kenya. Pricing for both devices has not been revealed officially but they are listed on Jumia and Xpark for Ksh 23,000 and Ksh 41,999 for the Infinix Note 12 and the Note 12 VIP.
“Infinix is creating a new standard for high-quality smartphone performance and design with its new NOTE 12 Series, which embodies impeccable form and function.” shared Vento Lin, Product Manager of NOTE Series at Infinix Mobility. “This series packs quick-charging power and strong chipsets into an iconic design that is perfect for emerging professionals who need a light, flexible and high-performance device.”, Infinix, Country Manager, Mike Zhan.
The launch of the Note 12 series in Kenya is scheduled for tomorrow and you will be able to follow that on YouTube below.
Infinix Note 12 VIP
The star of the show is the Infinix Note 12 VIP. It does come with all the powerful specifications and the price tag to match that. At Ksh 42,000, the Infinix Note 12 VIP will be pricey and should be competing with devices like the Huawei nova 9 SE, Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, OPPO Reno 7 just to name a few. Infinix better make sure this phone is ready to compete with the mentioned devices as they are all recent devices that deliver what they promise.
The Note 12 VIP comes with a 6.7-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate. This is what Infinix may use to stand out from some of the devices I have mentioned above as not all have this high refresh rate. This is an AMOLED display with a low blue light eye comfort certification, accredited by TÜV Rheinland.
Powering this phone is the MediaTek Helio G96 processor which is good but the Snapdragon 680 should have been better. This is what almost all its competitors are using and it would have made for a much better comparison. Besides the processor, the phone does come with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It does support 5GB RAM expansion that can take the total available RAM to 13GB.
As for the cameras, the Note 12 VIP has 108MP Cinematic Triple Camera consisting of a 13MP Ultra-wide-angle lens and a Depth lens with Laser Detection Auto Focus. It also has a 16MP front-facing camera.
Providing all the power is a 4500 mAh battery that supports a whopping 120W fast charging. This is impressive in my opinion and a first for Infinix. I have experienced these fast charging speeds on the Xiaomi 11T Pro and have been impressed. You can top up the battery from 0% in less than 20 minutes.
To help achieve fast-charging capabilities, Infinix incorporated a dual-charge pump and dual-cell battery. This enables the Note 12 VIP to adjust the voltage and amperage to the optimal ratio, as well as doubles the available input. “Keeping ultra-fast charging safe, the smartphone includes 103 charging and battery protection features, which span the entire charging cycle for the charger, circuit and battery,” the company said in a statement. The Note 12 VIP’s charge cycle counts up to 800 with up to 85% battery capacity retained.
