Leading African digital payments company DPO Group has announced three partnerships with companies in the digital payments sector. The increased momentum for partnerships follows last year’s landmark acquisition by Network International, a globally renowned enabler of digital commerce.
Following the acquisition, DPO Group has increased its operations in new markets both in Africa, partnering with businesses in key African territories, from local businesses to continental airlines. DPO began 2022 with more than 60,000 active registered merchants and is set to increase this number through tactical partnerships and new territory launches. These new partnerships will allow customers to access efficient eCommerce and payments services through DPO Group’s robust platform.
DPO’s partnership with Mastercard will enable businesses in Ghana to offer their customers greater choice and convenience by accepting digital payments in the currency of their choice, including mobile money. It offers seamless and secure payments via e-wallets which function both locally and abroad, and the two businesses recently collaborated to deliver a training session for entrepreneurs in the country.
In partnering with DPO, the Bank of Kigali will now offer digital payment services to its existing business customers, and it is expected that many new online merchants will join the bank to take advantage of the new service.
Early in the year, One Payment Limited, a subsidiary of DPO Group, was granted a licence by the Central Bank of Nigeria to provide certain types of payments services to businesses across Nigeria. The licence enables DPO Group to operate as an independent payment solutions services company in Nigeria, as it does across over 20 other countries in Africa.
This activity follows a strong end to 2021, which saw DPO partner with Amadeus, a global leader in travel technology. Customers are now able to accept local payments, including via mobile money and card payments, allowing international airlines to operate locally and African airlines to expand globally. As a result of the partnership, DPO is connected to multiple regional and international airlines via Amadeus’s airline passenger system.
Offer Gat, MD of DPO Group Africa comments: “We’re delighted to kick off 2022 with three strong strategic partnerships. This is going to be a huge year for entrepreneurs and commerce in Africa. It will also be a big year for DPO Group as we continue to support the ambitions and potential of these businesses through our payments products and services.”
