Twitter has today launched Twitter Shops, a beta feature that allows sellers to display more of their products in virtual storefronts on their profiles.
Twitter began exploring Twitter shopping back in 2015 when they rolled out features like the “Buy Now” button, product pages, and product collections. They later launched the Shop Module where businesses can showcase their products at the top of their profiles.
Twitter Shops is more of a refined version of the Shop Module as it now allows sellers to curate a collection of up to 50 products to showcase on their Twitter profile and instead of a rolling carousel of products, it’s a larger list with a dedicated profile link. It basically gives merchants a larger and fully-immersive space to highlight a longer catalog of products.
Worth noting is that you won’t be able to purchase things directly from Twitter Shops just like Instagram’s native shops. Instead, you will click the “View Shop” button above the merchant’s tweets to visit their shop. Once ready to make a purchase, you can then click on the product you want to purchase and be seamlessly redirected to an in-app browser of the merchant’s website where you can learn more about the product and even checkout.
At launch, Twitter Shops will be in beta testing in select businesses in the U.S. on iOS. Twitter continues to strive in making shopping as easy as possible on its platform.
