Pantone LLC today announced Samsung as the newest Pantone Validated partner for both Pantone Matching System (PMS) Colors and Pantone SkinTones.

Samsung is the first HDR display manufacturer in the world to participate in Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated, a new patent-pending technology program that allows display, TV, mobile device and printer manufacturers to have their devices tested and validated for authentically reproducing Pantone PMS and SkinTone colors.

Samsung’s all-new 2022 QLED models will be the world’s first HDR Displays with ‘Pantone Validated’ approval from Pantone. The models receiving this recognition from Pantone include all 20 newly released models – 15 QLED TVs in both 4K and 8K and five monitors. Samsung’s 2022 QLED TV line-up is recognized for its accurate expression of 2,030 Pantone colors and newly added 110 skin tone shades.

The Pantone Validated marks indicate that the device they appear on meet Pantone’s testing criteria and can authentically reproduce the diverse set of colors found in the Pantone PMS and SkinTone Guides.

“The Pantone Validated program is on the cutting edge of authenticity in technology,” explained Iain Pike, Director of Licensing & Business Development at Pantone. “We’re proud to have Samsung be one of the first partners to add Pantone Validated for both PMS colors and skin tones. We look forward to users getting the chance to experience true color and skin tone within their products.”
