The Tecno Spark 8P was recently unveiled in Kenya as the latest in this entry-level series. The phone is available in stores for Ksh 16,400. The Spark 8P is the successor to the Spark 7P from earlier this year.
Competing with the Spark 8P is the Samsung Galaxy A12. This is a much older phone that you can get in Kenya starting from Ksh 15,000. This is one of the most successful devices from Samsung within this price range and with that, those looking for a new smartphone around Ksh15,000 might have it on their list.
I have the Tecno Spark 8P in for review and I decided to compare it to the Galaxy A12 just to see which one will offer you good value for money.
With this comparison, you should have a good idea as to which model is the right one for you.
Display
You will spend so much time looking at the display of your new phone and it should be perfect for you. Out of the two, the Tecno Spark 8P has a slightly bigger 6.6-inch display compared to the Galaxy A12 that has a 6.5-inch display. The Spark 8P has a better resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels while the Galaxy A12 has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.
The display on the Spark 8P feels good to touch and this is one of the biggest upgrades when compared to its successor. This display is quite good and the higher resolution makes for a good experience. If you are into media consumption, this display will be perfect for you.
Performance
Powering the Spark 8P is the Helio G70 processor while the Galaxy A12 is powered by the Helio P35 processor. Both these are powerful processors that can get the job done. You will not go wrong with either as they can both handle daily tasks easily. You can even play a few games on either phone without any problems.
Cameras
The Tecno Spark 8P has a triple camera setup made up of a 50MP main sensor, a 2MP camera, and a VGA camera. The Galaxy A12 on the other hand has a quad-camera setup made up of a 48MP main sensor, 5MP, and two 2MP sensors.
Have a look at some of the other key specifications comparing these two devices.
