Netflix Introduces a Ksh 300 Mobile-Only Plan in Kenya

Netflix on Android

Netflix has had an aggressive global expansion plan ever since it started operations unlike some of its competitors. The service has been available in Kenya for a number of years given local users a chance to legally stream global movies and TV shows.

Globally, Netflix has over 200 million users and the number keeps growing by the day. This number is huge and considering that there are a ton of video streaming sites competing with Netflix, it just should you how massive the platform is.

Netflix has always localized some aspects of its service and for a country like Kenya, this means allowing users to pay in Kenya shillings and thus making subscription costs a bit cheaper. These changes were implemented back in 2020 and now there are even more changes for those who want to save more.

Netflix has introduced a mobile-only subscription in Kenya as discovered by Gadgets Africa. The new subscription plan becomes the fourth one offered by the video streaming platform in Kenya with the other three being the basic, standard and premium plans available for Ksh 700, Ksh 1,100 and Ksh 1,450 respectively.

As is with the name, with the mobile-only plan, you will be able to stream on your mobile phone or tablet. The streaming resolution will be limited to 480p.

ShowMax, one of Netflix’s competitors, has a mobile-only play available in Kenya. The platform recently slashed prices for this package to Ksh 300 and this is what probably incentivized Netflix to introduce its own mobile-only plan in Kenya.
