Instagram has been updating its platform by adding new features and testing a ton of them too. The latest update will be coming to the desktop version of Instagram. Up until now, all you could do when using Instagram on desktop is scroll through your feed, like and comment on posts. You could not publish posts directly.
Instagram may be changing this to allow users to post even when using Instagram on their desktop.
Twitter user Matt Navarra has shared screenshots of how publishing posts directly from the Instagram desktop version looks like. The button to create and share posts is located next to the Direct Messages button. With this, you will be able to upload photos or videos right from your computer or even drag and drop them to upload.
Just like it is the case with the mobile version, users will be able to add filters to photos, edit them, add caption, location and turn off commenting.
The feature is still being tested so expect it to be rolled out in the coming months. This has been confirmed by Christine Pai from Facebook who said, “We know that many people access Instagram from their computer. To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser.”
