Google has announced new Play Store policies to help crack on scammy apps. The new policies touch on how apps are presented to users on Google Play Store. They touch on several things, including app descriptions, titles, and icons.
First, app titles will be limited to 30 characters and should not include keywords that imply store performance, promotion in the icon, title, and developer name. App icons should also not include graphic elements that might mislead users as well.
What Google is pushing for is clear and concise app titles, icons, and developer brand name. Check the two images below.
The company also revealed new policies for Store listing preview assets, including feature graphics, screenshots, videos, and short descriptions.
The new store listing guidelines will go into effect starting in the second half of this year.
“App title, icon and developer name that do not meet the upcoming policies will not be allowed on Google Play,” Google says.
Expect more details on the changes later this year, including precise enforcement dates.
