Last week, HMD Global started seeding out the Android 11 update to the Nokia 8.1 and 2.3. Few days after that, the company has started rolling out the stable version of Android 11 to the Nokia 4.2 as well.
Nokia 4.2 came out in May 2019 with a 5.71-inch HD+ display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 processor. It shipped with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. That means Android 11 is the last major update that HMD will provide under its two-year update promise.
Android 11 for the Nokia 4.2 weighs 1.5GB, according to a screenshot shared on Twitter. The update ships in tow with Google’s March security patch.
With Android 11 up for download, Nokia 4.2 owners will get to experience some of the latest features introduced in the latest Android version, including chat bubbles, one-time app permissions, conversations, among other things.

The update is rolling out globally, including in Kenya, except for a few countries. If you don’t see an update, you can manually check via the phone’s Settings menu.
