OnePlus launched its new devices, the OnePlus 9 series. These are high-end phones, like the OnePlus 8 Series, with a premium chipset, improved cameras(at least on paper) and several improvements in the right spots as expected.
Starting with the design, the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are nearly identical. However, you get a slightly different design from last year’s OnePlus 8 Series.
The design is clean and minimal. Arguably, you’ll be able to spot a OnePlus 9 series phone from a distance due to the rear camera array. There are two large circles on the camera bump. Aside from that, the minimal bezels and chin plus the small hole punch are similar to many other modern high-end phones.
A major distinction between the standard OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro is the display size, a slightly curved panel on the Pro, and cameras.
Talking of size, the OnePlus 9 features a 6.55-inch 1080p AMOLED panel, while the Pro has a 6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED panel with a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate.
Both have the 5nm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 8 or 12GB of memory and 128/256GB onboard storage. The OnePlus 9 Pro has faster UFS 3.1 storage.
The two have a similar 4500mAh battery with support for wired and wireless charging. As expected, the Pro supports faster-charging speeds than the vanilla OnePlus 9. Wired charging is capped at 65W on both, but the Pro has 50W wireless charging support, unlike the comparable minute 15W on the vanilla model.
On the camera department, both have a 16MP selfie camera. On the rear, the Pro has four distinct cameras(48MP main, 50MP Ultra-wide, 8MP Telephoto & 2MP monochrome) while the standard model has only three, lacking the telephoto lens.
The duo runs Oxygen OS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box with performance improvements. OnePlus 9 series will go on sale from April 2. The OnePlus 9 starts at $729, while the Pro costs $969 for the low-end model with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
OnePlus 9 ships in Winter Mist, Arctic Sky and Astral Black. The OnePlus 9 Pro comes in three colours: Morning Mist, Pine Green, and Stellar Black.
