Instagram Live Now Accommodates up to Four Users Simultaneously

Instagram has announced Live Rooms, the latest addition to its feature stock. Live Rooms will allow Instagram users to go Live on the platform with up to three additional users. The feature doubles down on the current Live feature that only permits two users to be on a live stream at the same time.

Live Rooms, the company says, will hopefully open up the platform to offer more opportunities to users, especially creative folk.

“We hope that doubling up on Live will open up more creative opportunities — start a talk show, host a jam session or co-create with other artists, host more engaging Q&As or tutorials with your following, or just hang out with more of your friends,” Instagram said in a statement.

Users can earn money via Live Rooms, as with the previous Live feature, through fan badge purchases, Shopping, and Live Fundraisers.

Live Rooms includes several features as of now, including the ability to report and block comments and comment filters. But in the future, Instagram plans to add additional interactive features like moderator controls and audio features.

How Instagram Live Rooms Works

To go live, do the following;

  1. Swipe left inside the Instagram app and select Live Camera.
  2. Name your Live Room
  3. Add guests to your room by tapping the Rooms icon.
  4. Add people by searching for them manually, or users can send requests to join your Live Room.

Blocked users by any of the active participants in the Live Room will neither view nor join the Live, Instagram says. Additionally, guests blocked from accessing Instagram’s live feature over Community Guidelines violations will not join Live Rooms.
