Samsung’s first attempt to make a folding mass-market device was a rough journey, but the company has improved dramatically since. As the company continues to roll out new foldable phones, it includes new exciting features that were not available on the old devices.
But that doesn’t mean you necessarily need to buy the new shiny gadget first. In this case, the Galaxy Z Fold2.
A new update provided by the company to the Galaxy Fold is carrying some Galaxy Z Fold2 features over. It brings select exciting features from the second-generation fold to the first fold that don’t need a hardware upgrade.
Here are the new features available on the Galaxy Fold:
App Pair
App Pair is a dream come true feature for multitaskers. This feature lets you launch three of your favourite apps simultaneously in different split-screen layouts. Now that it’s available on the Fold, you can find it via the Edge Panel. A simple swipe will bring up up to 22 of your most favourite apps.
For additional flexibility to multitasking, Samsung Galaxy Fold is additionally getting a new horizontal layout option in Multi-Active Window.
The new update also makes shooting photos with your Galaxy Fold better.
Auto Framing
Auto framing does all the heavy lifting (zooming in and out) to ensure everyone fits in the picture without manual adjusting.
Capture View Mode
Capture View Mode lets you capture and review those photos in real-time. It can also show you a preview of the recently captured photos on the other side of the display while previewing the next one in the other half.
Dual Preview
Dual Preview also makes good use of the available rich screen real estate. Using Dual Preview, which is also available while shooting videos, the Galaxy Fold shows a preview of the image on both the Cover and Main Screens.
Rear Cam Selfie
And thanks to Rear Cam Selfie, Galaxy Fold owners can now take better selfies using their back camera. The rear Cam Selfie feature leverages the phone’s cover screen as a viewfinder for the back camera.
Samsung says the specific launch date of the update will vary by either carrier or market.
