The Tecno Spark 5 Pro has finally been launched in Kenya. This latest device in the Spark series joins the Tecno Spark 5 and the Spark 5 Air from earlier this year. I was not particularly a fan of the Spark 5 when I reviewed it and I hope the Spark 5 Pro is different.
The Tecno Spark 5 Pro is available in Kenya from Ksh 13,999 which is not a bad price if you ask me. This is the same price the Spark 5 retailed for so we are getting slightly improved specs for the same price.
The Tecno Spark 5 pro has been available in other markets and only now is the company launching it in Kenya. I do have a unit to review and will share my full thoughts on it in the coming days. In this post, we will be unboxing this phone and sharing my first impressions on it.
Before we get to the unboxing, let us first look at the key specifications of the Tecno Spark 5 Pro.

First Impressions
Taking out the Tecno Spark 5 Pro from the box for the first time, I noticed its close resemblance to the standard Spark 5. Both phones are the same size and have the same build.
The back has a gradient colour that looks stunning. It looks much better than what we saw on the standard Spark 5 Pro. The build quality is quite good with the edges curved making it comfortable to hold the phone.
The back is made of plastic as expected but it is not slippery. Still on the back is where we have the quad camera setup and the fingerprint scanner. The scanner is easy to setup and use.
The volume and power buttons are on the right of the phone and are all within easy reach even when using the phone with just one hand. The USB port, speaker grille and headphone jack are all at the bottom.
Flipping the phone to the display, we get to see the 6.6-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1600. This display isn’t that bad at all, it is vibrant and bright and for the few days I have spent with it, it is responsive.
The display comes with a screen protector already installed and the front facing camera housed in a notch on the top left part of the display. The notch does not take that much space.
The Tecno Spark 5 pro is powered by Android 10 with HIOS 6.1 custom user interface. The software experience is pretty much what we saw on the Spark 5. The only difference is that now we are getting a bigger RAM (4GB for my case) to work with the Helio A25 processor that the phone comes with. This isn’t the best processor Tecno could have used but I will test it out to see how it performs in real work environments.
So far, the Spark 5 pro seems promising, it does perform well especially when compared to the standard Spark 5. The build quality has also impressed me so is the camera performance.
I have been using the Spark 5 Pro for a few days and I will use it for the next few days so you should come back for the full review then.
