Yesterday, HMD started shipping Android 10 to the Nokia 3.1. But, finally, after announcing its official Android 11 update roadmap, the company has also started seeding out Android 10 via OTA to Nokia 5.1.
Now that Android 10 is available to the Nokia 5.1, HMD Global has completed its roadmap announced last year.
Considering that the phone came out in May 2018 running Oreo, Android 10 is likely the last major update. HMD Global guarantees two years of software updates and an extra year of security updates.
With Android 10, Nokia 5.1 users can now use the hotly anticipated system-wide dark mode, gesture-based navigation, smart replies, granular privacy and security controls, among other features.
The update, which weighs 1.32GB, tags along with Google’s September security updates.
Android 10 for Nokia 5.1 is currently rolling out to users in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Users in these countries will receive the update latest by Oct 29th. And for the rest of the world, including Kenya, you will have to wait much longer.
