HMD Global’s stronghold has been a guarantee of two major Android updates, which happens to be a crucial part of Google’s Android One program. Following Google’s official rollout of Android 11, Nokia has announced a summary of its update roadmap. It includes Nokia phones that’ll be updated to Android 11 and when.
Nokia Mobile posted the roadmap on briefly on Twitter, deleting the tweet afterward.
According to the tweet, the company will first update the Nokia 2.2, 5.3, 8.1, and 8.3 5G before the year closes. Later in Q1 2021, the company will ship Android 11 to the Nokia 1.3, 2.3, 2.4, 3.2, 3.4, 4.2, 6.2, and 7.2.
Finally, in the second quarter of next year, Nokia plans to roll out Android 11 to its experimental flagship phone, Nokia 9 Pureview, and the entry-level Nokia 1 Plus.
It’s not surprising to see the company give less priority to its last true flagship phone, as it has been over a year and a half since the phone’s official announcement.
Nokia announced Nokia 9 Pureview in February 2019. It’s also undoubtedly the phone’s last major Android update, after getting Q in June this year along with the May security patch.
A new report now suggests HMD Global’s Nokia plans to host another event in November to release a successor to the phone. Rumor mills suggest it will be called Nokia 9.3 Pureview.
