Anker Innovations plans to officially enter the East African market and it will be using Kenya as its base for the region. The company plans to introduce some of its highly acclaimed smart devices into the region as it expands to more markets.

In Kenya, Anker products are distributed by Sweech, an ecommerce site that is known for selling a wide range of products including those from Anker, JBL among others. Sweech will also be responsible for recruiting distributors throughout the country. I have used Sweech a few times before and I have been happy with their prices and product selection.

Anker sees Kenya as a ripe market to enter right now according to Regional Sales Head, Mr. Faraz Mehdi. Anker products are not that pricey compared to some other brands and Kenya might just be the right market to expand to. Its products have been available locally but this is by far the official communication we are getting from the company.

“We are extremely excited to venture into the Kenyan market which has the highest share of internet usage through mobile phones, this mean constant charging of the phone due to high power consumption as a result this either hinders movement or business transaction due to low or no phone charge. We are therefore here purposely to ensure nothing hold you back from doing your business while on the move”, Mr. Mehdi explained.

Ammar Ganijee head of operations from Sweech limited said majority of Smartphones users in Kenya are largely on social media sites, e-learning, accessing games, music and news. However, a substantial number are also increasingly using their phones to access essential financial products.

“In Kenya Smartphones has become a necessity to life particularly during this Covid-19 pandemic period as it is also used to aid in education, especially for children. It helps in easy access to information and helpful content that assist children for more interactive learning through watching education videos and playing education programmes”, Ganijee added.

Other products to be distributed locally include speakers, sound bars, headphones, earphones, earbuds and accessories. I hope Anker will bring all its products to Kenya as the more options we have, the better.
