Sony’s hotly awaited PlayStation console is coming towards the end of the year. For now, the company has not yet announced the pricing details and precise availability dates.
However, the company has opened pre-orders for the next-gen console, coming later in the year. Don’t be excited already yet, since they are many barriers to getting your hands on the PS5 at the beginning. Sony says, “there will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order.”
With limited supplies, Sony is offering a chance to its console fans to be able to upgrade easily – if possible. Pre-orders are on an invite-only basis from Sony itself. These reservations will also be acted on “a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast,” the company says.
Early birds interested in getting the console when available will have to first register via this link for a chance to receive a pre-order invite. “Chance” is the keyword here, since filing out that form doesn’t guarantee that Sony will send you an invite.
Invitations will be based on a user’s “previous interests and PlayStation activities.” Still, an invitation is not a guarantee that you will be able to pre-order the PS5.
Additionally, each invitation will be open for a limited time, so you need to act fast when it arrives. Sony has also limited the quantity of pre-order to one console – alongside the accessories – per each PSN ID.
Another critical point to note is you can only pre-order as long as you ship to a US-based address. Orders placed with non-SU addresses will be cancelled.
PS5 console pricing is unknown – for now – as Sony and Microsoft weigh options on who’s going to reveal first – so the other can price their device competitively.
Not yet. Both Sony and MS have had issues keeping up with the demand. Pre-orders have sold out everywhere right now, and there are warnings about delays even from Amazon for those who pre-ordered.
