The Infinix Note 7 has been available in Kenya for a few months and I got a unit to review last week. This is the latest phablet from the company that has been hyped a lot and I am interested to see what it is all about.
The Infinix Note 7 in Kenya is available for around Ksh 18,000 on Jumia. Infinix Note devices have always been known for their big sizes and the Note 7 is not any different. This phone takes over from the Infinix Note 6 that was not very successful.
The Infinix Note 7 is competing with some good phones from Huawei, Xiaomi, Nokia and even its sister company, Tecno. Potential customers in this segment have a number of options and the one they end up choosing has to be perfect for their needs.

First Impressions
I got the Infinix Note 7 variant with a green back cover. Infinix is calling this Forest Green that looks really good. It does look different and with the gradient finish, it will definitely be unique compared to most of the other phones it is competing with.
The back is made of plastic and does feel good. It is not cheap plastic with the curved edges that make it comfortable to carry around. At the back is also where we find the quad camera setup in a circular module.
The phone has a 6.95-inch display that is quite huge but I find the size manageable. Yes, it is big but I have no problem using the phone. This display has a resolution of 720p which looks good but is a disappointing resolution for a smartphone within this price. The display is bright enough and just ok for most of my needs.
The power and volume keys are on the right and within easy reach. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner and setting that up and using it is quite easy. It works really well and I have not had any issues using the fingerprint so far. The phone also supports face unlock for those who prefer using that.
At the base we have the earphone jack, Micro USB port and speaker grille. The speakers get loud but do not have a rich base. When playing audio, sound also comes out through the earpiece This ensures a good experience when watching videos or movies.
What I Like So far
The Processor
The Infinix Note 7 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G70 processor that is made for mid-range gaming smartphones. The processor carries its weight and delivers on that as has been the case for me for the past few days. I have not experienced any performance issues. This is not a high-end processor but does a good job nonetheless.
Cameras
As I have mentioned above, the Infinix Note 7 has a quad camera setup at the back. This is made up of a 48MP main camera that is supported with a 2MP depth sensor, 2MP macro lens and another 2MP sensor. The quality of photos you get with the main camera tend to be good with enough saturation. There is also a super night mode that I have been testing and it does make a difference. I will be doing a full camera review in a few days so watch out for that.
The front facing camera is a 16MP one that takes pretty good shots.
Battery
Every time you see a 5,000 mAh battery you know that this phone is made for those who want long lasting batteries. I have used this phone for a few days and I am impressed. It does not drain that fast even when running demanding tasks. This battery supports 18W fast charging so you will not have to sit around for long as it charges.
