Times change and people grow. The entire process is seamless but not in the current social media era. Whatever you posted online some time ago while in high school might still haunt you in the future. Facebook acknowledges this and they want to help you clear your history easily via their new Manage Activity tool.
“Whether you’re entering the job market after college or moving on from an old relationship, we know things change in people’s lives, and we want to make it easy for you to curate your presence on Facebook to more accurately reflect who you are today,” the company wrote in a blog post.
Deleting your past Facebook history isn’t rocket science, but by using the Manage Activity tool you archive or trash old posts at a go. Posts sent in the archives will still be visible to you but no one else will be able to see them. It’s the simplest way to help you remind of your old self. But if you no longer want to see any of that at all, trashing will get the job done.
However, trashed posts will stay in the ‘bin’ for 30 days before being deleted. But you can still choose to manually delete or restore them before then.
Manage Activity gives you a simpler look for easier deleting of old posts and is included with filters. You can filter posts by date or even deeper to select people tagged, and content type (check-ins, photo, video, text updates, etc.).
The tool is available on Facebook’s main app as well as Facebook Lite on Android and iOS. It will also be available on desktop in the future.
