Stadia, Google’s cloud gaming service, is now available in non-Pixel devices, the company announced. At launch, the service was available exclusive to Google’s own Pixel series of phones. However, the company will fully enable support for other select devices from third-party manufacturers starting tomorrow.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Google said Stadia will be officially available on devices from Razer, ASUS, and Samsung. In a blog post, company said the cloud gaming service will be available on the following phone models: Razer I & II, ASUS ROG phone I & II, Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active, Note 8, S9, S9+, Note 9, S10e, S10, S10+, Note 10, Note 10+, S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra as February 20th.
Apart from the support of more devices, you will also need to have a Stadia subscription in order to play games. Google Stadia has been available since November 2019, despite being limited to some regions at launch. The platform plans to add over 120 games to its catalog this year alone and is eyeing to bring more than ten games in the first half of this year, exclusive to Stadia at launch.
More Features Coming
Apart from the support of more devices and widening its games catalog, the company plans to roll out even more features this year. Part of those includes support for 4K gaming on the Web and wireless gameplay on the web. Stadia’s biggest advantage is that it relies on the Cloud, which makes it easy to add more features without needing the gamers to purchase new hardware.
