Samsung was one of the first companies to launch a foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, to the market. This was a big challenge for the company as some of those who got the phone had to return it due to the screen damage after a few days of using the phone.

Samsung had to halt the public release of the phone and issue a clarification on this issue and the phone was brought back to the market. The phone is available at an outrageous price of over $ 2,000 but this is expected for a piece of tech that is still new to the market.

Even with its hefty price, Samsung claims that it has sold over 400,000 Galaxy Fold units globally, quite impressive for a first time product. This is one of the reasons why the company plans to unveil more foldable devices this year.

Samsung announced plans to unveil more foldable smartphones this year as it released its Q4 2019 financial report. The company expects to sell between 5 and 6 million foldable devices this year. This is quite a jump from the 400,000 units it sold last year.

For 2020, Samsung plans to focus on flagship and foldable phone. The company plans to bring a new design for foldable phones this year as part of its growth strategy. We already know about the Galaxy Z Flip that should be unveiled on February 11. This will be the first of many that we should see this year and I am curious to see how much it will be available for.
