It’s been a while since the Infinix NOTE 5 first hit the Kenyan market — almost two years and still counting. However, that doesn’t bar the phone from getting the latest Android version update.
No surprises here since the Infinix Note 5 was part of Google’s Android One program which guarantees up to two years of major Android updates and three years of monthly security updates.
The Infinix NOTE 5 shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box in 2018 but was updated to Pie last year. Well, Infinix NOTE 5 users will now be glad to know the company is already seeding out Android 10 for the device.
The update ships with Google’s January 5th security patch which to me sounds impressive. If you haven’t received the update already be sure to follow the following steps to check if it has already arrived.
Settings > System > System Update > Check for update.
The update weighs almost 1.2GB so be sure to set aside some good amounts of data before you start downloading the update. The company also warns that you should have at least a half-filled battery which isn’t new of course.
As the norm dictates, Android 10 update means the device will now have system-wide dark mode, gesture navigation, WIFI sharing via QR codes, smart replies across the board, and more security-focused features under hood.
Additionally, the company says it has revamped the AI camera with Animojis. Google lens has also been added with live translation capability.
