If you thought 108MP is enough, Samsung is aiming even higher. So far, Samsung is the only company that has produced a 108MP camera sensor that we saw in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.
Samsung has announced its working on a 144MP camera sensor based on the 14nm FinFET Process at the 2019 International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM).
The new sensor, according to Samsung, poses a few challenges. It has to work at a relatively high voltage (2V and up). This does not work in tow with that chip designers are doing since they often aim to use the lowest possible voltage to reduce power consumption as well as heat production.
Using the 14nm FinTET Process, however, results in a 42% reduction in power consumption when shooting images at 10fps.
The company did not say a word about the Pixel size, though. Samsung launched its 108MP sensor in September, and it is even rumored to include it in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S11 series coming in Q1 2020.
