No More Stalking Instagram Public Accounts Unless You Sign in

Instagram

Instagram is making some changes to its platform that may not settle well with those of you who have been stalking accounts without signing up for an account. Instagram has a new change that you won’t like. The platform now requires you to sign in to your Instagram account before you can view a public account.

The latest changes now give signed-out users no chance at viewing public accounts. Whenever you go to Instagram while not signed in, you will now be prompted to sign in or create an account before you can be able to.

This change has been implemented on both mobile and desktop versions of the platform, so there is no workaround, whatsoever.

Talking about the new changes, Instagram says, “This is to help people see photos on Instagram and then understand how to get the best Instagram experience by being part of the community, connecting and interacting with the people and things they love.”

This can be seen as an additional tactic the Facebook-owned photo-sharing social network wants to leverage to gain more users. Forcing people to sign in or register for accounts is a good way to get the numbers up. In addition to this, Instagram probably wants to have data on their users. If people sign in to their accounts, Instagram will be able to track them and see what they like and hopefully recommend accounts to follow or serve them with ads they might like. After all, Instagram is in the ads business and it needs to know its users to provide them with better ads and make money while at it.
