Instagram is finally rolling out dark mode to its mobile apps starting with iOS. The update has just been pushed out and you should have it if you have iOS 13. In the update changelog, there is no mention of dark mode as it only says it fixes bugs and brings performance improvements. According to the Verge, this update is not just about that as dark mode has been added too.
Dark mode for Instagram will not be enabled within the application but it will use the phone’s system-wide settings. If you are using a dark theme on your iPhone, you will get dark mode on Instagram. This means that you should have updated your iOS version to the latest one and you are set.
I know this option is not ideal for everyone as some people would have loved to have more control on the dark feature on Instagram but sadly they are not getting that right now. This may change in the future but not now.
For those of us on Android, this feature is still being tested and when rolling out, it will be available for Android 10 users. Android 10 has a system-wide dark mode and I am sure it will work the same way as on iOS. I will update you when the update is available for Android users.
To get Dark Mode on Instagram for iOS, get the updated app from the App Store now.
