Google Photos, as from version 4.2, has now included live previews for videos. The update gives photos a lively view of something which was rolled out in Apple’s iOS 13 beta –for sure Google didn’t want to miss out on this one. The thumbnails will now play as long as the video is within the screen view and will automatically stop when the video leaves the screen vicinity.
Video previews also play in a reverse chronological in case you have many videos placed side by side. I’m not a fan of saving videos to my gallery – but I’m sure this will help you save your time when looking up for a specific video within your Google Photos cloud.
Currently, the video previews feature is only available in the Photos feed and not available when you view your Albums.
This update is also only available for Android, and iOS may follow at a later time. Typically, Google Photos web app allows you to preview videos by hovering over the video, unlike what is now offered on Android.
