A few days ago, Xiaomi started recruiting beta testers who use Mi 9 to try out their Android Q based MIUI 10 ROM. The company has today started pushing the ROM via OTA update. As a reminder, this is not to be confused with the closed beta that was to be based on the stock version of Android Q. Also, the beta group in question is different from the previously closed beta testers that Xiaomi sought to test out on Android Pie based MIUI for Mi 6, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A users, and Android Q for POCO F1 users.
In the Chinese social media network Weibo, Xiaomi’s software team director showcased sample screenshots of MIUI 10 beta running on his device which is based on upcoming Android 10 Q. Although the ROM is based on Android 10 Q, little changes have been made to the overall layout in comparison to MIUI 9.
Having a glance at the screenshot does not give a clear idea of the changes made, however like Android 10 Q, MIUI 10 majorly focuses on user privacy. and security.
However, if you opted in the closed beta group ensure you check in the settings apps under software updates to grab your share of MIUI 10 beta.
As a precautionary measure, keep in mind the ROM is not stable, and it is advisable to back up your data before upgrading to the MIUI 10 beta. Besides like any other betas, bugs are a common thing so it may be wiser to stay on the fence and hop in after a while when most bugs have been ironed out.
Because the OTA update has started rolling out today, we are yet to discover more about Xiaomi’s Android Q based ROM. But stay tuned for more updates about the same.
