About a week ago, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 was officially unveiled in Kenya. The phone was available on pre-order through Jumia for Ksh 24,999 and its other partners. Within that week, the company reports that it has received over 1,000 pre-orders. This is quite a milestone to be achieved in a short time for a phone within this price.
Speaking of the successful pre-order period, Huawei Mobile Country President, Steven Li said, “We would like to appreciate all our partners who ensured, we meet the target during the pre-order period. We are also glad that consumers are still confident in our products as based on the number of pre-orders made across the country. We would like to encourage consumers to turn up in numbers at Two Rivers where we will officially launch the devices and begin sales across the country. We will also have a winner walk away with a Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 after participation in the on ground activities that includes gaming and spin the wheel.”
The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is the company’s first smartphone to have a pop up selfie camera. With this, the company has eliminated the notch for a clean and symmetrical look. This is one of the key selling points of this phone and specifically for its price.
We have seen pop up selfie cameras before but they tend to be on more expensive smartphones. Devices such as the OPPO F11 Pro has the pop-up camera but it is available for almost Ksh 40,000, pricey compared to the Y9 Prime 2019.
