We recently reported about Xiaomi’s decision to shut down its Global MIUI beta test program for all users starting July 1st which was attributed to the unresponsive nature of some testers.

Xiaomi stated some users adopted the beta program as a way to get new MIUI updates faster and never bothered to offer feedback despite the use of the MIUI beta ROM’s as their daily driver.

Now Xiaomi seeks a closed group of beta testers that will have the chance to try out POCO F1 Android Q update and also Pie Update for Mi 6, RedMi 6 and RedMi 6A.

The new ROM as Xiaomi states is a Stable ROM, and the closed beta program is aimed at ensuring the ROM is more perfect before it is publicly launched.

Regarding the POCO F1 Android Q update, it is not clear if the beta testers will test the developer previews of Android 10 Q or the MIUI-based Android Q ROM. But for the Mi 6, RedMi 6 and RedMi 6A, the Pie based MIUI will be tested which will make it as the Stable version of the ROM previously available in the discontinued beta program.

The closed beta program is open to all Xiaomi users with the devices mentioned above around the world. Application of the closed beta program has already started, and the deadline for consideration is set for July 7th after which selected testers will be sent with confirmation messages via PM in the Mi forums on July 10th. But still, the company warns the ROM is unstable urging users who wish to join the program to first backup their files.
