HMD Nokia has been releasing devices into the market at a faster rate. Notably, all of the company’s devices are under Google’s Android One project. As a result, Nokia guarantees two years of software updates to all of its devices.

Nokia revealed its Android Pie timeline at the start of the year, and so far, it has done well keeping its word. All the 22 devices that the company has launched in the past two years have all been patched with Google’s latest Android version. The last one in line was Nokia 1, an Android Go edition entry level device which has finally received a share of Pie. Nokia had promised Pie will arrive on the Nokia 1 before the end of Q2 this year.

Breaking the news, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas stated that all their devices are now running on Pie. This is quite impressive given that most companies right now have not even provided some of their devices with Android Pie.

And at a price of Ksh 8,000, you can’t expect much about the software updates. Nokia 1 features a 4.5-inch display, 480 x 854 pixels resolution, 1GB RAM, Mediatek MT6737M Quad-Core SoC, and a 2MP selfie camera and a 5MP primary camera. These are all entry level specs that the Lite version of Android, Go edition utilizes well.

Since Google’s Android 10 Q is almost official, we are yet to see which devices will be left out of the cold from HMD Global Android Q update roadmap.
