Huawei’s flagship smartphone from 2017, the Huawei P10, is finally getting Android Pie. When the phone was first released, it came with Android 7.0 Nougat and back them we were not sure if it was scheduled to get any major update as Huawei isn’t very keen with this. Almost two years later, the company is updating this smartphone with EMUI 9.0.1 that is based on Android Pie.
Late last year, Huawei pushed out Android Pie to some of its recent smartphones but the P10 was not one of them. We were not sure if this phone was going to get the update as the company never said anything about that when the update was rolling out.
If you own the Huawei P10, you should expect the update to get to you very soon as it has started rolling out to users in China and I am sure it won’t be long before it is available to other users. This update (EMUI 9.0.1) that is based on Android Pie also comes with the January 2019 security patches.
Besides the Huawei P10, EMUI 9.0.1 is also rolling out to the Honor 9. It is interesting to see the Honor sub-brand is supporting its devices with the latest updates. EMUI 9.0.1 comes about a month after the company pushed out EMUI 9.0 to these two devices (P10 and Honor 9).
EMUI 9.0 brings with it all the key Android 9 Pie updates you have heard of including Adaptive Battery optimization, Adaptive and optimized brightness levels, Android’s new gesture-based navigation system, new camera optimizations and UI and many more features.
