Android 9.0 Pie was officially announced back in August and so far the update has been pushed to a select number of units. Huawei is usually late to the party when it comes to updating its devices with the latest software but it looks like things are different this year.
Huawei announced plans to update some of its devices with Android Pie a couple of months ago and it is now living up to its promise. The company has said that it is pushing out EMUI 9.0 update that is based on Android 9 Pie to some of its devices. This update is rolling out globally so if you have the devices listed below, you should be getting a notification soon. The devices are:
- Huawei Mate 10 series
- Huawei P20 series
- Honor Play
- Honor View10
- Honor 10
These are mostly the top of the line devices from the company and it is a bit disappointing to see that. Huawei has some other devices including the P20 Lite, Y9 2019 and a few others that I think should also get Android Pie at some point even if they are not its flagship devices. I hope the company does something about these devices very soon as it does not look well to just update the flagship units and leave out the rest.
EMUI 9.0 brings with it all the key Android 9 Pie updates you have heard of including Adaptive Battery optimization, Adaptive and optimized brightness levels, Android’s new gesture-based navigation system, new camera optimizations and UI and many more features.
