Android Go may not be where we hoped it would be but it is reaching more people with each passing month. Android Go is a version of Android that is tweaked to run smoothly on entry-level devices with between 512MB and 1GB of RAM. We have seen a handful of Android Go smartphones launch in Kenya from the Nokia 1 to the most recent one, the Safaricom Neon Kicka 4.

Android Go smartphones are designed to give users better performance on entry-level devices. These devices come with entry-level specs and hardware and we are used to seeing them not offering a good experience and Android Go seeks to address this.

Huawei is finally joining the Android Go market in Kenya through its latest smartphone, the Huawei Y3 2018. The phone will be available during Safaricom’s Open Day according to Android Kenya. Huawei wasn’t very vocal with the launch of the Y3 2018 in Kenya but only shared that on its social media pages saying that the phone will be available during Safaricom Open Day sale running from 26th November to 8th December.
