The Tecno Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro Smartphones Have Officially Been Launched in Kenya

Tecno camon 11 back

Tecno Mobile has officially unveiled its latest smartphones, the Camon 11 and Camon 11 Pro, in Kenya today. These are camera-centric devices as with other Camon devices we have seen before. We have already seen two other Camon devices this year, the Camon CM and the Camon X series. These devices came earlier in the year and things have changed since then and now we have the Camon 11 and 11 Pro.

The Tecno Camon 11 will be available for Ksh 14,999 while the Camon 11 Pro will be available for Ksh 23,999. The Camon 11 competes with the likes of the Huawei Y7 Prime 2018 and the OPPO A3S while the Camon 11 Pro competes with the Huawei Y9 2019 and the OPPO F9.

The Tecno Camon 11

This is the phone that I predict will sell the most. The company is actually bringing twice as many Camon 11’s as Camon 11 Pro’s. Available for Ksh 14,999, this is a sweet price for a smartphone that comes with the specifications of the Camon 11. These are not crazy specs in any way but provide good value for money.

Tecno says that the Camon 11 phones are created for the youth who keep up with the latest technological trends. All this means is that the phones come with most of the specifications we have hyped so much this year. These include the AI enabled cameras, bigger RAM, AR emoji just to name a few. This has been the company’s strategy for years, pack as many trending features as you can and hope customers want them and end up buying your phones.

With the price of the Camon 11, Tecno may end up selling a good number of units especially with the holiday season approaching and since we are not seeing a Camon device this year.

Below are some of the key specifications of the Tecno Camon 11.

Display Size: 6.2 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels

Processor: 2GHz Octa-core MT6761 Helio A22

RAM: 3GB

Storage Space: 32 GB, can be expanded to 256GB using a microSD card

GPU: PowerVR GE8320

The Tecno Camon 11 Pro

On the other hand, the Tecno Camon 11 Pro comes with a higher price tag of Ksh 23,999. It comes with most of the specifications you will find on the standard Camon 11 with differences in the camera’s, memory sizes and processor. This is the phone that is directly competing with the Huawei Y9 2019 and even though it is the star of the show, the company will not bring that many units in the country. The company probably hopes that you will look at the Camon 11 Pro and then buy the Camon 11.

Unless you want all the features on the Camon 11 Pro, I am sure the standard Camon 11 is just enough.

Below are some of the key specifications of the Tecno Camon 11 Pro.

Storage Space: 64 GB, can be expanded to 256GB using a microSD card

No Phantom Smartphone

We normally see Tecno’s flagship smartphone at this time of the year but this will not be happening this year. It is still not clear why that is the case but low sales numbers may have something to do with that. The company is yet to officially communicate this so all we can do is to make up reasons until we get official confirmation.
