Samsung has finally unveiled its 2018 flagship Note device, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Being the successor to the Galaxy Note 8, expectations were high to see what the Korean giant has been working on and if it is a worthy upgrade for those who already have the Galaxy Note 8 or even the Galaxy S9.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 9 is the world’s most advanced smartphone. How true this is will depend on your interpretation but the phone is impressive from what we have seen so far. Samsung has said that the Galaxy Note 9 is targeting a new generation of users and creators. It comes with enough power, battery life and capacity to ensure users can do more with their phones.

Bigger Screen, Bigger Battery

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with a big 6.4-inch display that is the biggest we have seen from the company so far. This display has a Quad HD+ resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. Samsung Note devices have always had bigger displays and it looks like Samsung wants that to be the trend going forward. With a 6.4-inch display, you have enough space to be productive and just get more done on your phone. If you are into gaming or watching movies, this display will just be perfect for you. Speaking of games, Fortnite for Android is now in beta and Galaxy Note 9 users will be among the first to get it on their phones.

Samsung has also upped the battery of the Galaxy Note 9 to 4,000 mAh. This is impressive as the Note 8 has a very mediocre battery life and I am happy Samsung is fixing that. With the power of the Note 9, you need such a big battery unless you want to keep charging your phone after using it for a couple of hours. Samsung says that the Note 9 packs a true “all-day” battery.

128GB for The Base Model

The base model of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has 128GB of storage space. This model will have 6GB of RAM. There is also a 512GB variant that will come with 8GB of RAM. With the 512GB model, you can get 1TB of space if you happen to get a 512GB microSD card as the phone supports that. Galaxy Note devices are meant to be for power users and the storage options Samsung is offering clearly show that.

Updated S Pen and Camera

The S Pen has also been upgraded for the Galaxy Note 9. It features Bluetooth low energy connectivity and this lets owners use it as a remote control. Owners will be able to use the S Pen to take photos, playing and pausing videos, going through slide shows just to name a few.

For the camera, Samsung says is improved from previous Note devices. The camera has intelligent functionality that “takes the work out of getting the perfect picture”.  All this is possible thanks to features like Scene Optimiser, Flaw Detection and advanced noise reduction technology.
