HMD’s cheapest smartphone in Kenya, the Nokia 1, is getting cheaper. The company has slashed the price of the Nokia 1 from Ksh 9,500 to Ksh 7,999. This makes it one of the cheapest Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphones in the country. It is slightly more expensive than the recently announced, Itel A32F that is available for Ksh Ksh 6,499.

At Ksh 7,999, the Nokia 1 is reasonably priced in my opinion and is perfect for those who are looking to buy their first smartphone or anyone looking for a second smartphone that can handle basic tasks well. If HMD markets the Nokia 1 at this price really well, I will not be surprised if it becomes the best selling smartphone in the country.

With the latest price cut, HMD clearly wants a bigger market share as the company knows that the Kenya market is driven by such affordable smartphone. We are very price conscious consumers and HMD wants to take advantage of that. With the low price and the Nokia name, this phone should be flying off the shelves.
