Tecno has finally unveiled its latest camera-centric device, the Tecno Camon X Pro. This phone has been unveiled in Nigeria and will be available in Kenya in Mid-April. The Tecno Camon X Pro has a 24MP selfie camera which is just crazy to think about. Huawei recently unveiled the P20 Pro that also had a 24MP front facing camera and I was not expecting Tecno to do the same this year. The Camon X Pro is not the only device the company has unveiled, we also got to see the standard Camon X that has a 20MP front facing camera.
At the back, both the Camon X and Camon X Pro have 16MP cameras. The company says the cameras on these new phones have increased image definition of 30% over those of the CAMON CX. With this, Tecno says users should expect sharper and clearer images. I have tested out the cameras of the Camon X and they are really good, the front facing camera is just unbelievable.
The Tecno Camon X has a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels while the Camon X pro has a 6 inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Both spot the modern 18:9 aspect ratio just like the Tecno Camon CM that we saw a couple of months back. This is going to be the trend this year and Tecno does not want to be left behind.
Powering the Camon X is the 2.0GHz Helio P23 processor from MediaTek. This is paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space. If you go with the Camon X Pro, you will be getting 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space. Both versions have MicroSD card slots to expand the storage space if it is not enough for you.
You can check out some of the other specifications of the Tecno Camon X here.
According to Tecno, The Camon X family introduces a dual ISP image processor that will make it easier for the phones to process actions much faster as both processors work together. “Dark state and noise reduction on the CAMON X has been upgraded by 20% with the memory color function so as to ensure natural color reduction while balancing the color so it can be more pleasant for users to capture incredibly stunning pictures,” a statement from the company reads.
“You cannot say you have built a next generation smartphone if the device dons a regular camera regardless of its stellar design and features. Smartphone photography is the newest trend and several startup businesses depend on the proficiency of their mobile phone camera to grow their businesses. Thus, the latest CAMON duos are designed to deliver unimaginable precision and appeal to the consumer – a proposition we are proud of.” Philex MENG, CMO of TECNO Mobile said.
I will be reviewing the Tecno Camon X and will be through with it in a couple of week, watch out for that. I will also update you if and when the phone is available in Kenya. I also did an unboxing post of the Camon X that you can check out below.
