Tecno has finally unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Tecno Phantom 8. The phone was unveiled yesterday in Dubai with its camera being the main selling point. Since this is the company’s flagship, it replaces the Phantom 6 and 6 Plus smartphone from 2016. As you have probably noticed, Tecno has skipped the number 7 and went ahead to launch the Phantom 8, no reason has been given for this move but my guess is that the company had to do it as other manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung have devices with 8 on their names. These devices include the iPhone 8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
The design of the Phantom is one of the first things that you will notice about the phone. It is glossy with a mirror-like finish that looks like a fingerprint magnet. That is not a big deal though as some of the other features about this phone will get you excited about it. Tecno has definitely made sure the Phantom 8 is not disappointing (on paper) as you will see from the specifications below.
Below is a look at some of the key Tecno Phantom 8 Specifications.

From the specifications above, is the Tecno Phantom 8 worth your money? Is it an upgrade when compared to the Phantom 6 and is it able to compete with other flagship smartphones within the same price range? I personally think it does, it has most specs you expect from a flagship smartphone from Tecno. Even with that said, the user experience is what will determine if I can recommend this phone or not.
The price I have indicated above has not been confirmed but it is what we expect it to retail for, if anything changes, I will update this post accordingly.
I will hopefully be getting a review unit and when that happen you will see what exactly I think about this phone right here. With that, make sure you follow TechArena on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Telegram so that you do not miss out when that happens.

I expected atleast this in a phantom flagship like this:-
1. An amoled FHD
2. Infared
3. Bezel_less display
4. NFC
5. Snapdragon 821 or better
Anyways, hopefully that price will be reduced it’s not worth the hardware.
Not bad expectations except for the processor, I do not expect Tecno to go with a high end processor anytime soon, they prefer MediaTek processors cause they are cheap.
But how do they do it with phones like Le Eco Le3 Pro. A phone under US$220 with a Snapdragon 820. It’s doable honestly.
